Art Krehbiel

In 2006 while studying Mechatronics  at Sierra College Art was introduced to welding which lead him to attend TMCC welding program with Scott Holcomb.
From there He spent five years learning the trade at Johnson Iron under Jeff Conners.  After two years as a journeyman at Don's Welding with Jason Young, Art was able to acquire a CA C-23 decorative metal contractors license.  At the  end of 2017, 601 Metals was formed, a licensed and bonded CA business.

601 Metals

601 was started in 2017.  With Arts experience in the business and his diligence in getting a CA C-23 Decorative Metal Contractors License combined with Jamie's passion for making unique pieces of sculpture and his workshop, a partnership was formed.  Art and Jamie now offer the Tahoe region a custom Forge & Fabrication Shop with a focus on high end architectural elements for the home, office and retail space.  From creative railings to custom fireplace surrounds as well as other decorative metal features, 601 Metals has a solution for you.

Jamie Barbor

Started blacksmithing at a young age through an exploratory program at Holderness School in Plymouth, New Hampshire.  He continued studying the trade through high school and university as well as jewelry, sculpture and fine metal techniques. After graduating from the University of Vermont, with a bachelor of Arts degree, Jamie moved to Lake Tahoe in '96 to chase a backcountry skiing passion and work in the outdoor industry…All the while working on his craftsmanship and workshop.
